Funeral Homes in Chicago That Stood Out To Us

Lakeview Funeral Home

Created by Ray Hallowell, and his wife, Kristine, Lakeview Funeral Home features 24/7 service and around-the-clock grief support. For over 100 years, Lakeview Funeral Home is a detail-oriented facility, offering assistance on every facet of the funeral process. They also have multiple chapels, differing in how they meet the needs of those in need of a ceremony. One of the chapels is ADA compliant, and wheelchair accessible. Lakeview Funeral Home boasts a personal connection, as well as a family approach to the ceremonial process.

We visited Lakeview Funeral Home prior to our mother’s passing and found it to be clean, spacious and accommodating. It made the transition smooth since our mom was home hospice. They responded promptly to pick up our mother which was very late evening.  They walked us through all the steps in a very patient professional manner, answered all our questions and everyone we encountered was kind and patient with us. We really appreciate the service they provided. Thank you!

Pietryka Funeral Home

Pietryka Funeral Home, existing as a local community outreach funeral home for the southern Chicago area for almost 100 years. Having grown up with the city of Chicago, Pietryka has worked with all walks of life and offers assistance for any circumstance, 24/7. As something that’s been apart of the scene since the beginning, Pietryka Funeral Home also hosts community events and gives back to the local Chicago area. They offer pre-planning services as well as immediate help for those that find themselves in dire straights.

Pietryka’s funeral home is a quaint place in the neighborhood it’s a family orientated place for a funeral. I recently had the unfortunate task of having to cremate a family member Pietryka’s was there for me and my family. I should also mention how affordable Bobs place is. I would definitely recommend his place 10/10 !

A do-it-all facility located in the heart of Chicago, DuPage Cremations has remained a staple for over a century in the business. They offer a wide array of services, including military support for those that require they be put to rest honorably. They also have detailed resources for anyone new to death, or for those who may not know how to approach the subject once an unexpected passing occurs.

My family and I recently held a private funeral for my father. We were extremely satisfied with the service and staff. Very respectable and knowledgeable.

What Questions Do I Ask Funeral Homes In Chicago?

Chicago is filled with quality funeral homes that will fit your need. It’s important to ask a variety of questions to get to know your funeral director, and how they can help you.

Finding Funeral Homes in Chicago is no easy task, as Chicago is filled with quality funeral homes in Chicago that will fit your need. It’s important to ask various questions to get to know your funeral director, and how they can help you. It’s ultimately at your discretion what information you wish to know of your funeral director, but here at Final Expense Benefits, we have a few recommendations.

First of all, accreditation – Are you associated with the Funeral Directors Association? The Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice? Although not make or break, we feel as though these may give you a good idea of how involved in the community they are, or how established they’ve become.

Secondly, understand your options. Most funeral homes in Chicago offer “packages” that are meant to tie key features together effectively cutting costs and streamlining the process. We recommend making sure that you understand your options before making any decisions. On this note, ask what payment plans/methods they utilize and see how this accommodates you.

Finally, Find out what makes their home stand out from other homes in the area, as competition is fierce. Whether their price point is lower relative to what they offer, or possibly their services are more sophisticated than those around them, what have you, it’s important to utilize the fact that competition exists and you may take your benefits elsewhere.

How Do I Pay For A Funeral?

Knowing and planning how your funeral costs will be paid for is also important. Here at Final Expense Benefits, we will not only help you with finding the top funeral home in Chicago but the right funeral insurance. Whether you are looking at a policy for yourself or a loved one, a funeral insurance policy for seniors will help bring peace of mind. Thankfully you have multiple options other than a standard whole life insurance policy that requires years of preparation to reap the full benefit.

Final Expense Insurance

Final Expense Insurance exists like a whole life insurance policy, although tailored specifically for funeral expenses. These policies offer no medical exam and generally accept all applicants regardless of status. As a result of this acceptance rate, though, your rate may be adjusted based on how much of a risk you are assessed to be. Final Expense Insurance funds are paid out as normal as long as premiums are paid, and contain no restriction on how the funds may be used. This is always a good idea because you don’t have to spend the payout on a funeral if this is unnecessary, making this a very versatile policy.

Preneed Insurance

Preneed insurance, or what is essentially an agreement with your funeral home of choice, maybe a good idea as well. Generally, plans provided by this method of insurance are relatively cheap and offer little to no stress, as all arrangements are carried out by the funeral home when the time comes.

Medigap

Medigap is a policy offered by private organizations in an attempt to cover any gaps left by the inadequate sum given by SSI.  Medigap is a standard policy meant to give you what you pay for, serving an important niche as SSI payments are simply not enough in 2022 considering what inflation has done to the economy.

Survivors Benefits

The hardest to be applicable for, survivor benefits act like SSI although they are given in monthly payments to those that qualify. To qualify, one must either find themselves as a surviving spouse, unexpectedly in the care of a minor, etc.

Here at Final Expense Benefits, we believe no one should go without the proper closure to untimely circumstances, and after reading this article, we hope you feel more prepared!
