Funeral Homes in Philadelphia That Stood Out To Us

Baldi Funeral Home

Also known as the Pennsylvania Burial Co., Baldi Funeral Home began as a joint business opportunity between the Pietro family and Alfonso Baldi in early 1921, where it would remain ever since. Over the next century, the property would slowly be added to Baldi Funeral Home where it would cultivate into a 4+ chapel-wide funeral home with a garden as well. Baldi Funeral Home participates regularly with the community and provides services to those who wish to plan ahead, or those in immediate need. They also provide special ceremony options for those in the service or those that want a service burial.

I highly recommend Victor Baldi and Baldi Funeral Home.

My 84 year old dad passed recently and Victor did an outstanding job handling everything.

His team paid attention to every detail.

They were highly organized from start to finish.

I was pleasantly surprised at the various costs.

I write this review because it’s important to know you can trust him when a loved one passes away.

Lambie Funeral Home

Established in 1949, David F. Lambie along with his wife, Dorothy, would continue to run Lambie Funeral Home as a family business, wherein their children would eventually join the team and take over from there. Lambie Funeral Home has remained a Philadelphia staple for over 70 years and continues to provide ease and support to those experiencing unexpected circumstances. Although a philadelphia pioneer, Lambie Funeral Home has committed to changing with the times, and to continue updating their services to fit the needs of any individuals utilizing their services. They’ve begun to offer resources online, and allow for pre-planning or immediate assistance.

They arranged to have my deceased mother transferred from FL to Philly & from the airport there to their lovely funeral home. They made my mother up beautifully & everything went very smoothly. I highly recommend them.

Lenwood Jones Funeral Home

A relative newcomer to the scene, Lenwood Jones Funeral Home began in 2008 and has remained a staple of the south Philadelphia area. Newcomers aside, Lenwood Jones Funeral Home is a very capable full service, quality controlled, funeral home that provides nearly all the services associated with a funeral. From veteran memorials to floral arrangements, to provide you with a pre-planning checklist, they have it all.

They have helped my extended family though this rough situation of losing someone. They are amazing people that have accommodated and provided great information and service along the way.

With everyone spread out across the country they were able to help us organize. They also did a few extra mail shipments to various people of items we were not able to pick up ourselves

What Questions Do I Ask Funeral Homes In Philadelphia?

Philadelphia is filled with quality funeral homes that will fit your need. It’s important to ask a variety of questions to get to know your funeral director, and how they can help you.

Finding Funeral Homes in Philadelphia is no easy task, as Philadelphia is filled with quality funeral homes in Philadelphia that will fit your need. It’s important to ask various questions to get to know your funeral director, and how they can help you. It’s ultimately at your discretion what information you wish to know of your funeral director, but here at Final Expense Benefits, we have a few recommendations.

First of all, accreditation – Are you associated with the Funeral Directors Association? The Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice? Although not make or break, we feel as though these may give you a good idea of how involved in the community they are, or how established they’ve become.

Secondly, understand your options. Most funeral homes in Philadelphia offer “packages” that are meant to tie key features together effectively cutting costs and streamlining the process. We recommend making sure that you understand your options before making any decisions. On this note, ask what payment plans/methods they utilize and see how this accommodates you.

Finally, Find out what makes their home stand out from other homes in the area, as competition is fierce. Whether their price point is lower relative to what they offer, or possibly their services are more sophisticated than those around them, what have you, it’s important to utilize the fact that competition exists and you may take your benefits elsewhere.

How Do I Pay For Funeral Homes In Philadelphia?

Knowing and planning how your funeral costs will be paid for is also important. Here at Final Expense Benefits, we will not only help you with finding the top funeral home in Philadelphia but the right funeral insurance. Whether you are looking at a policy for yourself or a loved one, a funeral insurance policy for seniors will help bring peace of mind. Thankfully you have multiple options other than a standard whole life insurance policy that requires years of preparation to reap the full benefit.

Final Expense Insurance

Final Expense Insurance exists like a whole life insurance policy, although tailored specifically for funeral expenses. These policies offer no medical exam and generally accept all applicants regardless of status. As a result of this acceptance rate, though, your rate may be adjusted based on how much of a risk you are assessed to be. Final Expense Insurance funds are paid out as normal as long as premiums are paid, and contain no restriction on how the funds may be used. This is always a good idea because you don’t have to spend the payout on a funeral if this is unnecessary, making this a very versatile policy.

Preneed Insurance

Preneed insurance, or what is essentially an agreement with your funeral home of choice, maybe a good idea as well. Generally, plans provided by this method of insurance are relatively cheap and offer little to no stress, as all arrangements are carried out by the funeral home when the time comes.

Medigap

Medigap is a policy offered by private organizations in an attempt to cover any gaps left by the inadequate sum given by SSI.  Medigap is a standard policy meant to give you what you pay for, serving an important niche as SSI payments are simply not enough in 2022 considering what inflation has done to the economy.

Survivors Benefits

The hardest to be applicable for, survivor benefits act like SSI although they are given in monthly payments to those that qualify. To qualify, one must either find themselves as a surviving spouse, unexpectedly in the care of a minor, etc.
