United Home Life Insurance Coverage Options

United Home Life provides a large selection of whole life, final expense, and term life insurance plans. Many of their policies feature a simplified underwriting process that makes application easy.

1

Simplified Issue Whole Life

UHL offers four simplified issue whole life insurance options, which are their best choices for final expense insurance:

  • Express Issue Whole Life
This is a graded-benefit policy, also known as modified life insurance. If the policyholder dies of natural causes during the plan’s first two years, the benefit is instead paid as a refund of paid premiums plus interest. The full benefit is payable starting in the policy’s third year. Accidental death during the first two years still pays the full benefit. The express issue policy accepts most applicants, even those with major preexisting conditions. The policy is usually issued shortly after application if approved.
  • Express Issue Premier & Express Issue Deluxe
These are both immediate death benefit whole life insurance plans with optional riders and slightly different eligibility requirements. They both include a terminal illness accelerated benefit rider. Premier and deluxe have the lowest rates out of all UHL whole life plans, but also have the strictest health requirements.

  • Provider
Another immediate death benefit whole life policy, Provider is intended to be a long-term plan used throughout the policyholder’s life. It includes several no-cost riders and benefits, mostly aimed at maintaining coverage over an entire lifetime and across several life events. UHL recommends it as an introductory policy for children and grandchildren they can keep over their life.

All United Home Life simplified issue whole life plans are intended to be
inclusive in underwriting. They require no routine medical exams, are inclusive for smokers or those in poor health, and have a simple application process. UHL’s simplified issue policies often approve applicants with a wide range of preexisting health concerns, such as diabetes.

Like all whole life insurance policies, UHL’s options allow you to lock in rates when you apply and build cash value over time. While there is no specific United Home Life final expense policy, their simplified-issue whole life plans can be good choices.

2

Guaranteed Issue Whole Life

United Home Life guaranteed-issue plans provide coverage up to age 100 with no medical exams or health questionnaires. Guaranteed-issue applicants can’t be turned down due to health reasons

Overall, their guaranteed plans are similar to the simplified-issue ones, but with higher premiums and fewer included extra benefits. They can function as final expense insurance, but you’ll typically get better rates and often better coverage with a non-guaranteed policy.

Still, guaranteed-issue plans can be useful if you have a serious preexisting health condition that would exclude you from other plans, such as cancer or COPD. Just remember that all UHL guaranteed-issue policies have a mandatory two-year waiting period.

UHL Whole Life Insurance Costs

United Home Life insurance rates are in line with industry standards. Some of their plans can be pricier, but they either are guaranteed plans, which always cost more than standard plans, or have several included riders and other benefits. Below are sample rates for policies with a $10,000 death benefit. Sample applicants are non-smokers with no additional preexisting health concerns.

Term Life

United Home Life’s four term life insurance plans differ mainly in term length and included benefits:

  • Simple Term 20 & Simple Term 30
These plans are basic term policies with 20 and 30-year terms. They also are available with four optional riders.
  • Simple Term 20 ROP
This is a 20-year term plan that includes an additional feature that takes a portion of paid premiums and puts them in a savings account. Its cash value grows over the policy’s term and is paid at the initial term’s end, essentially paying back your paid premiums. This plan is available with two optional riders.
  • Simple Term 20 DLX
Similar to the other simple term options, DLX is a 20-year policy with relaxed underwriting requirements. This policy is intended for larger death benefits and is available with three optional riders.

All United Home Life term life policies are available to applicants up to age 70, with guaranteed renewable coverage up to age 95.

Other United Home Life Insurance Benefits

In addition to their extensive life insurance selection, United Home Life offers other unique benefits. This includes a range of insurance riders with extra coverage and accidental death insurance.

1

Extensive Life Insurance Riders

Life Insurance riders provide additional policy coverage options so you can fine-tune your plan to perfectly fit your needs. United Home Life insurance offers several riders:

  • Total & Permanent Disability Benefit
This rider waives premium payment if the policyholder becomes totally and permanently disabled. It’s available with the Simple Term 20 and 30 plans.
  • Accidental Death Benefit Rider
Pays a higher death benefit if the policyholder dies of an accident. Available with Simple Term 20 and 30, Simple Term 20 DLX, and Express Issue Whole Life. It’s included at no extra cost on the Provider’s whole life policy.
  • Identity Theft Waiver of Premium Rider
Waives premiums if the policyholder is a victim of identity theft. Available as an optional rider for the Express Issue Whole Life plan.

  • Child Rider
Extends coverage to eligible biological and legally adopted children. This rider is an option on the Provider’s whole life and all United Home Life term life plans.
  • Terminal Illness Accelerated Benefit & Life-Threatening Cancer Accelerated Benefit Riders
A policy with either of these riders pays a portion of the death benefit if the policyholder is diagnosed with a terminal illness or cancer with less than a year to live. It’s available at no extra cost to the Provider’s whole life policy and with all term life plans.
  • Hospital Stay Waiver of Premium Rider
Waives or reduces premiums if the policyholder has an extended hospital stay for treatment. Available as an option on the Express Issue Whole Life policy.

2

Accidental Death Insurance

In addition to their accidental death rider, United Home Life offers a unique accidental death insurance plan. It functions like a simplified whole life insurance policy, but with a larger death benefit if the policyholder dies in an accident.

If the policy is held for at least 20 years, the death benefit doubles. Accidental deaths provide an extra 50% on the death benefit. It has a simplified application process with no medical exam and simple health questions. Like standard whole life plans, the Accidental Death policy builds cash value from paid premiums.

5/5

UHL is very helpful with everything.

The premiums are fair, and when my Aunt died, they paid just like they promised, and the turn around time was about 2 weeks!

As an insurance company, they have a really great financial rating, and are so helpful whenever I call with sometimes (stupid) questions.
