Your Coverage Options with American Amicable

Whole Life Insurance

Whole Life Insurance provides a lifetime of coverage and your premium will purchase a specific death benefit with a specific cash value, which is guaranteed for life as long as the premiums are paid. Whole life premiums tend to be higher than term premiums, but the upside is that the price is locked-in.

This type of insurance is great for individuals who want to build cash value and to also make sure they are covered for life. This type of insurance does not require a medical exam and eligibility is based on answers to the medical questions on your application.

Term Life Insurance

Term life insurance is coverage that is designated to last a certain amount of time. You can purchase a term life policy in periods of 10,15, 20 or 30 years. If the policyholder passes away prior to the end of the term period, the beneficiaries will receive the death benefit. Coverage options for American Amicable Life Insurance range from $25,000 – $250,000.

American Amicable term life insurance offers policyholders the ability to renew their policy once their policy period comes to an end. You are able to keep a policy up until the policyholder turns 95, which is the age limit. Similar to most term life insurance policies, American Amicable term life coverage does increase each year after the premium period. While your term life plan is in place, you have the ability to convert it into a whole life insurance policy. The payout from a term life policy can help to pay off final expenses, such as a funeral, medical bills and debt, or the family is able to use the money as they see fit.

Universal Life Insurance

Universal life insurance is similar to whole life insurance in that it offers long-term protection, but you will not have a fixed premium. Since your premium is not fixed, it can change depending on various factors such as economic conditions. As you age, your premium will most likely increase significantly. The positive of choosing a universal life policy is that the payment schedule is very flexible and payments can be made at the convenience of the policyholder.

Senior Choice Whole Life Insurance

American Amicable offers final expense insurance for seniors with premiums that will never increase regardless of age or health status once you qualify. Your plan will not be canceled as long as premiums are paid. These policies accumulate cash value over time that can be used to pay for unexpected expenses or emergencies. Following the passing of the policyholder, the beneficiaries will receive a payout that can be used at their discretion.

There are three senior choice plans from American Amicable:

Senior Choice Immediate

Senior Choice Immediate is an ideal choice for seniors who are in good health as indicated by American Amicable’s health questionnaire. This plan has no waiting period and should the beneficiary pass while under this policy, the beneficiary will be given the full death benefit regardless of when the policyholder passed.

There are three senior choice plans from American Amicable:

Senior Choice Graded

If you are an older senior who is not in the best of health or has a history of smoking, this policy is a great option. There is a waiting period before you are entitled to the full death benefit amount. If the policyholder passes away during the first year of the policy, the beneficiary is entitled to 30% of the total amount. The payout increases to 70% if the policyholder passes during the second year. If the policyholder passes during the third year of the policy, the beneficiary is entitled to the full death benefit.

Pros and Cons of American Amicable

Pros

  • Fast application process

You will know same day if you are approved for coverage

  • Excellent options for smokers

There are affordable options for individuals looking for coverage who have a history of smoking

  • Flexible underwriting

American Amicable approves individuals who may have otherwise been denied coverage. This includes individuals with pre-existing conditions.

Cons

  • No online functionality

While Symetra Life Insurance has an informative website, it falls short in terms of comprehensive online resources. Potential customers may find it challenging to access detailed policy information or calculate premium estimates without engaging directly with a Symetra representative. Expanding their online resources could greatly enhance the user experience and streamline the policy selection process.

  • Mixed online reviews

Many reviews online mention difficulty in receiving payment from filed claims as well as having difficulty in canceling policies that are no longer needed.

  • Higher costs for healthy applicants

If you are healthy, there are other companies with less expensive plans.

This is by far the most unethical, bad-faith company since Enron. If you’re filing a claim, be prepared to file a TDI complaint.

Keep copious records of every conversation and email them even if they direct you to call. They lied about not having records that they actually had. We are now in the 5th month. The policy was in the contestable period, but they will drag the process out asking for unrelated records.

Google leadership contacts to speak with a supervisor or manager. They’re equally unscrupulous, but you’ll have their email address and contact numbers. Email daily if you have to. This company needs to be shut down.

If there were 0 stars. You took advantage of a man living off of $200 a month. You took $40 of that money every month. He was under the impression he was giving his daughters $3,000 to cover less than half of burial cost but it was the most he could afford (if you can even call it that). You sent me a check for $400. Your practices are deceitful, predatory and disgusting and I feel bad for your employees. You even sent paper work stating a very clear $3,000 coverage amount with nothing stating any kind of exception, not as much as an “up to $3,000.”  Whomever helped him sign up for this and their supervisors should be ashamed because they made a poor man believe he would be helping his daughters.

Dealing with multiple insurance companies I’ve found that American Amicable is one of the easiest and smoothest carriers to deal with on a regular basis. Highly Recommend working with them.

Our Review and Final Thoughts

If you are a smoker, American Amicable Life Insurance is a great option due to the lower costs for applicants who use tobacco. Compared to other insurance providers, American Amicable is much less expensive when it comes to smoking and they will even allow occasional smokers to apply at a non-tobacco price point.

If you are in moderate to good health, there are other options that are much less expensive. At Final Expense Benefits we can help you find a plan that is not only affordable, but also gives you and your loved ones the coverage you need.

We only work with the best carriers to provide you with the best coverage possible:
